I was told that the largest gold nugget ever found in Arizona was located in the Salt River near Sky Harbor airport. Anyone know for sure and have any more details?

My understanding was it was about a mile east of Sky Harbor airport. There used to be a sand and gravel operation near Tempe. They apparently found the nugget as part of their screening and washing process. You have to wonder how many other nuggets go through these screens or bounce off the top into an oversize pile...
